Top Three K-Pop Songs of August 2017

Monthly Round-UpAt the end of each month, I look back at my three favorite title tracks by k-pop artists. I take my own ratings into account, but there’s a bit of wiggle room as certain songs tend to grow or fade.

August 2017 Overall Thoughts

August was a weird month. Based on prior releases, if you would have asked me four weeks ago who my top three would be, I would have quickly said NCT Dream, GFriend and Taeyang… probably in that order. All those acts easily made it into my honorable mentions, but August’s cream of the crop ended up being three songs by groups who’ve never made my top three before. Two are complete rookies, while one is an established act who really hasn’t released new material since this blog started. All in all, August continued the 2017 trend of many solid tracks but few total knockouts. Still, this month was a step up from August of last year, even if I feel like we continue to wait for an extended streak of amazing releases. Hopefully the fall will deliver.

  1. Really happy to see you enjoyed ONF’s debut so much. I have a great fondness for all of WM Ent’s artists and I’ve actually been anticipating their new boy group since early last year…it was a huge relief to listen through their mini album and find it to be such a solid release. I have high hopes for them!

  2. I’m generally surprised to see Wanna One take your number 1 spot. I enjoy the song but I think its a little generic and it annoys me that they only have half of a final chorus.

    Personally I would say

    All Night at #1
    Love Me Love Me #2
Then a fight between N.Flying and Pristin for #3
