Lovin’ You Mo’ (from Countdown – 2018)

After a bevy of high-octane electronic dance tracks, EXO’s Countdown dials things back a bit for the groovy, skittering Lovin’ You Mo’. The song opens in understated fashion, reliant on its sneaky bassline to build interest. From here, snare drums and dense waves of synth build toward the celebratory chorus. There’s a little too much swaggy shouting here for my liking, but the track’s triumphant energy is hard to resist. A more inventive refrain would have given Mo’ the edge over similarly-themed songs, though there’s no denying the catchiness of its insistent hook.
