K-Pop A-Z Review: EXO – What I Want For Christmas

One song. Every day. Alphabetical order.

Keep up with EXO’s A-Z reviews here!

What I Want For Christmas (from For Life – 2016)

Is that a slight jangle of sleigh bells I hear? It must be Christmas. EXO brings us yet another holiday track with What I Want For Christmas, but it’s in the upper echelon of this surprisingly large sub-discography. The song has a nice swing to it, grooving on a simple r&b beat but nailing the hook with a strong melody and gorgeous harmonies. Of their winter efforts, the track is specifically tied to Christmastime, which limits its appeal somewhat. But, it’s a great little song to return to each year. We even get a jazzy interpolation of Jingle Bells during its instrumental outro!

  1. Hi
I passed the house where Thomas Nast first drew Santa Claus every day on the school bus as a child. That was an incredibly charming video, whoever they had put it together were clearly of an internet/my age. This just hits the spot for me, one of those holiday songs that makes you feel cheery and warm while having just enough of a dance beat to bop along to.
