Though past reviews might not suggest so, I’m very eager to board the Xdinary Heroes train. I’ve got my ticket on standby, waiting for the right song to coax me into the train car. After all, I love idol rock music and — judging by DAY6’s output — JYP Entertainment actually has a decent track record with the genre. But like agency mates Stray Kids, I’ve often found Xdinary Heroes’ title tracks too clever for their own good.
With Break The Brake, the band may have finally given me the push to delve further into their work. Its shouty chorus still isn’t quite there for me, but I enjoy the straightforward energy that drives the track. It feels less gimmicky than before — less focused on cute catchphrases and more determined to pummel listeners over the head with its rock prowess.
The verses are especially nice, matching the intensity of the rugged, robust instrumental. The guitars are turned way up here, creating a wall of noise that catches your ear right from the beginning. It feels like the climactic scene in an action movie, barely giving you a chance to breathe. The percussion is equally as commanding, delivering shots of punctuation that keeps things feeling exciting.

This is their best title track and album since Test Me/Hello World and I hope they continue with this sound.
Standouts from the album for me are Again? Again!, Freddy and Bad Chemical!

The music video was very interesting! And I always love a good guitar solo 😍 I’m about to listen to the whole album and I’m excited. I usually prefer their b sides anyway.

I don’t like this title track but bside wise? They really outdone themselves like album was too perfect otherwise break the brake can’t beat Freaking Bad

This could easily pass for a second single from an 80s LA Guns or Bulletboys album. Better than average hair metal.
