Eye Of The Storm (from Song Of The Sirens – 2020)

Okay, now we’re talking! I’m a sucker for Eye Of The Storm’s bombastic opening. It’s like the kickoff to a musical. You know you’re in for some drama, and the rest of the song mostly fulfills that promise. Electric guitar collides with driving percussion and cinematic strings. Then, to conclude the powerful chorus, the instrumental works overtime as Storm crests in an addictive mini-climax. It’s incredibly sturdy songcraft, working to GFriend’s strengths. It’s not quite a 9+ track for me, but we’re getting very, very close.

  1. I wish I liked this album’s B-sides more.

Solid song but I don’t remember the last time I listened to it all the way through. The final chorus (Umji’s part) is good, though.

  2. Song of the Siren is my personal most preferred EP from Gfriend and it’s kinda like the: if you wanted to know Gfriend more? Take THIS! Every song is melodically pleasant paired with strong vocals, the climax is coming wave by wave, leading the dynamic throughout the whole EP. I would rate a solid 10 for this EP.
