La Pam Pam (from Fallin’ Light – 2019)

Previous Thoughts: “The first few moments of La Pam Pam are absolutely divine. Eunha delivers a gorgeous solo that opens the track on a mysterious note. I don’t think the higher part of her register has ever been used this effectively before.” (full review)

Updated thoughts: Yeah, that introduction is pure magic. At its best, La Pam Pam sounds as if it could have been ripped from a stage musical. There’s a delicate theatricality that makes each moment compelling. The titular hook is the star, but the song goes beyond that, offering a full chorus and sweeping verses that shift and bend at the whim of the ornate instrumental. This is a specific K-pop sound we just don’t hear anymore, and that’s a real shame.

  1. First time listening to this song, it’s gorgeous! Sucks we don’t hear much of this nowadays.
And btw, you linked the debut re-evaluation, I assume you meant to link the buried treasure post?

  2. This one is a standout for sure. I know you don’t like their more ornate offerings, but I think it’s where they really shine.

I also appreciate that they give Sowon a more challenging (not challenging at all, but harder than what she normally gets) role, here.

And actually making use of Yerin! She gets shafted a lot more than I realized; this (actually their Japanese tracks in general) really lets her shine.

It’s not very clean, but I frequently spin up the instrumental for this song on Youtube and just enjoy it.

    Lovely song.
