Letter In My Pocket (from Pokémon the Movie XY&Z: Volcanion and the Exquisite Magearna OST – 2016)
Of course GFriend recorded a Pokémon OST! I mean, who better to do that? Better yet, it was released during their stellar 2016 run, drawing upon the energy and sounds of killer tracks like Navillera. Letter In My Pocket is far more reserved than that song but it has the sonic touchstones of a great adventure anime. There’s a sense of wonder laced within this midtempo arrangement. The melodies could be stronger, but I still enjoy them quite a bit. The bridge is also very pretty, leading into a great electric guitar solo. Bring back electric guitar solos, K-pop!

I was wondering why you had a random color coded lyrics video attached lol
I was completely unaware of any posts gfriend did. The instrumental is great, I love the piano with the fizzy synths. I agree we should have more electrical guitar solos (and more electric guitar in general) but I’m also craving electropop ballads/ songs like aoa’s “one thing”
The delivery from all the girls is pulled back, I wish towards the end they got more hefty. Regardless, I think this song succeeded at what it was trying to be

this is completely unrelated but did u hear abt newjeans standing up to hybe and threatening to break their contract…..immensely proud of them for standing their ground despite everything (esp given how young they are)

it’s definitely admirable, but I worry about its effectiveness

I would appreciate it more if they weren’t including reinstating MHJ as one of their demands. HYBE is not a good company, but my god, she is such a skeevy person.

They liked her leadership, they’re seeing stuff we aren’t so I hesitate to judge that

Does the opening part sound like After School’s Shampoo?… Yeah it does, a lot.
Ngl I didn’t know they had done this, so this is a pleasant surprise. Definitely sounds like a pokemon song, maybe a touch of Mermaid Melody, as well.
I’m not sure it’s going on my playlist, but I appreciate having heard it.
