With over 5,000 songs on my iPhone’s “K-Pop Singles” playlist, I thought it would be fun to add a bit of unpredictability to my song review posts. So as a result, we have the “Random Shuffle Review” feature.
The rules are simple. I fire up my playlist, press “shuffle,” and whatever song plays first gets the full Bias List treatment!

It’s fun when something obscure pops up on a random shuffle review. She’z debuted in 2012 and stuck around for only two years before quietly disbanding. I doubt their music is remembered by anyone beyond the most devoted K-pop fans and those of us who love to seek out underrated tracks. However, that doesn’t mean they deserve to be forgotten.
The group debuted with My Way in 2012 — a vintage year for K-pop. Honestly, if this song were to come out in 2025 I’d be raving about its full-throated embrace of pop melody. My Way‘s verses are rather uneventful and strongly tied to the sounds of their era, but the soaring chorus has much to offer. The song really opens up here, delivering a wallop of open-hearted melody and an arrangement that layers the girls’ vocals for maximum effect. I love how this refrain sweeps in, fully-developed from the start. It’s such a shot of positive energy. The guitar-led bridge is also a ton of fun. Parts of the My Way could benefit from more interesting production, but the song’s skeleton is very strong and belies She’z’ underdog status.

I get what you mean with “full throated”, cord closure, it’s still weird phrasing even after seeing you use it multiple times. That aside, I do agree with you, that the confident vocals ( from every member ) is refreshing in our current musical landscape. The chorus is the best part of the song, but the vocals get you through the verses. I like it but maybe not as much as you do
Might be a weird take, but I miss the way videos were shot in the first half of the 2010s. I think it’s how much more simple they were, while still have good production value. Sometimes videos feels like they had more effort/focus than the song these days

Oh the nostalgia is strong in this one. Back in simpler times. Back when the idols wore simpler clothes and costumes without Branding, got up on the stage and sung and danced their hearts out, live live.
Song is good perhaps even great if you like sitting on one note at the same intensity for a fair bit of the song. Reminds me a bit of a chirpier version of Kelly Clarkson’s “my life would suck without you” without Kelly’s insane vocals.

man in 2012 i’d skip this song so hard, but now i feel so happy listening to this chorus. nostalgia + the craving for something different than the mainstream really is a stong combo

I loved this group so much, one of my earliest heartbreaks as a kpop fan. I remember their company selling them as “4 IUs” back when IU was a rapidly anccending idol.
