Song Review: Queenz Eye – Feel The Vibe

I last wrote about Queenz Eye all the way back in 2023 and can’t remember anything about their music. Such is the fate of too many nugu groups, under-promoted and given infrequent comebacks to the point where everyone but their most dedicated fans forget they exist. With new track Feel The Vibe, they’re back to remind us what they’re all about.

We may be in the dog days of summer, but that doesn’t mean K-pop can’t still offer some refreshing bops to soundtrack the second half of the season. Feel The Vibes‘ music video is all palm trees and lounging by the pool, though its sound feels more suited to late nights driving around town. The song has a pleasant, funky bounce that draws from 90’s hip-hop but with an electronic bent. As its title suggests, listeners will certainly be feeling the vibe.

Unfortunately, Feel The Vibe is little more than this vibe. Its melodies are slight and forgettable, though I appreciate the variation between its verses and chorus. The song has more dynamics than most within this soundscape and feels like a fully fleshed out idea. It’s just not very catchy, and that will prove tricky in the long run for a group hoping to establish themselves for longer than a single promotional period.

  1. I do really enjoy the different textures throughout the song and I think on more listens the vocals will continue to cement themselves and become catchier. The chorus has a great 2 part structure (or just a post chorus?), and the backing vocals in the second half of the chorus are especially great for adding an interesting pop of color. They expand on it during the outro and it sounds even better there.

    Overall, I’d say: 8,9,7,9 = 8.25

  2. I was really excited by the intro, especially the Siiiiiiiiil-ence note. And the it never repeats again, that motif.

It has a nice groove. With a slight change in instrumental choices (other synth buttons, real instrument swapped in for a synth) this could be early 80’s R&B, like a B-side on an Evelyn “Champagne” King album. She of “Love Come Down” fame, which song is still mixed into DJ sets all the time.

Flat 8 for me, maybe a tick higher for the nostalgia.

    For the kids here –

  3. I just want to say it’s funny how every time you review a song from this group you open it by saying “I don’t think I’ve ever seen these people before in my life”
