Song Review: AxMxP – 24 Hours

FNC Entertainment has this way of tossing out a bunch of acts and waiting for them to stumble into some kind of hit. The promotion rarely feels all that intentional, especially with their bands. AxMxP made a strong debut with a full album, but follow-ups have been less thought out. New single 24 Hours (편의점 불빛) arrives with almost no promotion at all, offering a lighter version of the group’s sound.

When I see a digital single with little-to-no promo build-up, I sometimes wonder what necessitated its release. Was the song simply too good to wait on? Or, is it some kind of abandoned scrap that can be tossed onto the charts in the rare chance it will catch fire? 24 Hours sounds more like the latter, though its chances of hitting big feel almost nonexistant. This is a pleasant mid-tempo, more suited to busking than music show performances. It’s nice to hear the guys in a more reserved light, but there’s nothing here that I’ll remember in a month’s time. It’s simply nice background music. I assume it’ll appear on the second half of the band’s next album after they’ve dispensed with their more ear-catching material.
