One thing about YG Entertainment is that they’ll always milk a mini album for all it’s worth. More often than not, YG artists film music videos for multiple tracks, extending their promo period. After the off detour that was Sugar Honey Ice Tea, BABYMONSTER are back again with a video for the summery I Like It. And, I guess the third time really is the charm because for me this is the only standout single they’ve released in 2026.
For as talented as BABYMONSTER are as vocalists, I’ve never understood why their title tracks usually ignore that quality. Sugar Honey Ice Tea was marred by a constant stream of “talking over a club beat,” so it’s nice to hear I Like It burst out of the gate with a greater emphasis on singing. Most of the melodies are still pretty flat and hardly demanding, but they offer a breeziness that feels far less belabored than the group’s many “look at me, aren’t I awesome?” hype tracks. In its own way, I Like It exists in the great pantheon of bubbly K-pop summer songs.
Much of this is thanks to the song’s production. Synth strings swirl around an insistent electro beat as a catchy guitar loop repeats in the background. The chorus pinwheels out of this arrangement with a buoyant burst, offering natural peaks that build toward an effusive finale. I wish the second verse switch-up didn’t upend this momentum so greatly, but overall I Like It is easily one of BABYMONSTER’s strongest releases.

It’s a bit generic in its efforts and sound, but it still is miles better than most of their output so there’s that.
8 (8, 8, 8, 8) for me

This is delightful! I’m so happy they got another good song! That’s like 4 of them on my playlist now, which is 3 more than the Blackpink songs on there 😆 8.5

Finally a Babymonster song that sounds like and resembles a song, an actual song … … a bit basic for summer fare, but hey, it’s a song.

Shit, you’re right. It slaps. Oddly reminds me a lot of that one (1) album Zendaya released in 2013 for some reason…?

Don’t worry, Pitchfork featured Nothing Last’s Forever in their 20 Essential K-Pop songs list way back in 2014. This was a notable article at the time as the first U.S. K-Pop coverage to, shockingly, talk about the actual music.

The vocals and production did deliver nicely, however the song is a bit too generic for my taste and won’t age well in summer playlist. But I guess anything near ordinary is better than their last SHIT song.

Pleasant sounding song with nice delivery but highlights the problem with Baemon for me, none of their timbre is unique. If I for example overheard this song at a shopping center I probably wouldn’t recognize it as a new song from them.

Is anyone hearing a little bit of CeeLo Green’s “Fuck You”? It’s all the ooh ooh ooh-ing.
