There are a number of acts who have debuted in the past few decades and have dozens of song ratings on this blog. I thought it would be fun to lay these ratings out in chronological order, line-graph style, and take a macro view of their careers so far. Then, similar to my “Underrated K-pop” features, I can average their ratings into one mega-score and place them in a pantheon alongside other acts.
As always, this feature has some rules of its own. I’m including any “Song Review” ratings as part of this graph, including Japanese releases and collaborations with one other artist. I’m not including Buried Treasures or solo/sub-unit releases. For the ratings themselves, I’m using the most current number on this blog, so if a song was part of a “Risers and Fallers” or “Legendary Songs Inauguration” post, that’s the rating you’ll see displayed here. That means there will still be a few ratings here and there I find slightly inaccurate, but it’ll mostly reflect my up-to-date feelings.
Finally, these scores are completely subjective. Feel free to agree, disagree and argue (that’s part of the fun!), but know that this chart reflects the opinion of only one person (me).

Overall Trendline:

I get their switch to a more gentleman-like sound but they shined in songs like Don’t Stop Can’t Stop, I’ll Be Back, Comeback When You hear This Song, I’m Your Man, etc. Wish they still kept that tempo high while giving us great dance tracks.

I think the switch happened with the Grown album. The bonus edition had a CD where the members wrote on all the tracks. From there they went from a J.Y.P.-written group to a more self-produced group.

unknowingly, this must have been the first K-pop group I ever heard, since I remember it playing on the radio when I was younger, and since I didn’t understand Korean or English, I just automatically assumed it was a song like any other international track… nowadays, I remember the song was Hands Up

Last week my phone autoconnected to my car as I was trying to sell my car and it started blasting A.D.T.O.Y when a family was trying to test drive it without me hearing it from outside 😭 (it had been my most recently listened to song). Fortunately it didn’t scare them off from buying it ✨ anyways that song is 100% my vibe and I’m glad this is one of the few times our music tastes overlap 😅

There is no universe where these songs are 8.75.
I’ll be back, heartbeat, my house, again and again, these are flipping 10s.

I like both 2PM and 2AM, but I enjoy 2PM’s music more because I’m a fan of upbeat music.
That being said, will there be a post for 2AM as well?
