Good ol’ N.Flying are still kicking around with their new single Still (잔불). It feels like we’ve watched this group grow into a completely different band over the years. Just remember — if you were around back then — the swaggering rap-rock of debut single Awesome and compare that to the much more refined (but maybe not as interesting?) music we have here.

One thing that’s remained the same through the years is the band’s undeniable talent. You know you’re getting quality with N.Flying and they attack Still with a ton of verve. Their dual-vocalist approach has paid dividends for years. However, this powerhouse duo deserves equally impactful music. Taking their performance out of the equation, Still just doesn’t do much for me. It feels very OST-adjacent, as much of Korea’s mainstream idol rock tends to be. The melodies are powerful but not particularly interesting, making this feel more like a footnote in their career than the highlight I was hoping for.
