The First Snow (from Miracles In December – 2013)

It’s hard to beat acoustic guitar and sleigh bells during the holidays, and The First Snow knows this. EXO’s vocals are taken full advantage of  here, offering a warm bed of harmonies over an uplifting melody that practically begs to be sung along with. The instrumental dips occasionally into some odd percussion choices. Maybe they were meant to sound like the clatter of reindeer hooves or the friendly knock on an old wooden door, but their presence deep in the mix makes for an unexpected contrast. That’s about the only thing atypical about this Christmas track. It’s designed for the season, and easily accomplishes its modest goals.
