There are few things I enjoy more than a great summertime song. They’re bright, they’re exciting, and they remind me of my favorite time of the year.
There’s no telling what this summer in K-pop will bring, but over the next few weeks I’ll be flashing back each day, showcasing a highlight from past summers. The rules are simple: I fire up my carefully compiled “K-pop summer” playlist, hit ‘shuffle,’ and if the song that pops up hasn’t already been featured on the site, it gets a post and mini-review of its own.
So, get ready for a summer of K-pop on The Bias List!

Amber – Need To Feel Needed (2016)
Usually, I can take or leave Amber’s solo music – especially the English-language stuff. But, Need To Feel Needed is a definite highlight. In fact, I’m surprised that I somehow missed reviewing this when it was released in 2016. It has a certain beachy haziness to it that really appeals to me this time of year. The breathy vocal ad-libs are pure bliss, especially when taken alongside the gentle guitar-and-synth instrumental. Amber’s tone fits these kind of ethereal pop tracks best, even if the breezy ease of Needed is far from her more experimental work with f(x).
