K-Pop A-Z Review: f(x) – Mr. Boogie

One song. Every day. Alphabetical order.

Keep up with f(x)’s A-Z reviews here!

Mr. Boogie (from Nu ABO – 2010)

How can a dance track called Mr. Boogie possibly be anything less than awesome? From its title alone, you already know that this is going to be a ton of fun. And, f(x) don’t disappoint. This is a pretty standard electro pop song, but harnesses a sharp beat that gives it plenty of drive and texture. The verses spark excitement, while the vamping chorus brings the attitude. Mr. Boogie is the kind of f(x) b-side you could easily picture going to SNSD instead, especially given its heavy use of vocal layering and power notes. I’m not sure that f(x) bring anything to the track that’s unique to them, but this would have been a solid song regardless of the performer.
