Song Review: WEi – LOVE2YOU

WEi - LOVE2YOUIt’s been over a year since WEi last made a comeback with the summery Overdrive, but new single LOVE2YOU feels like it starts right from where that song left off. Summer may be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a few more bursts of sunshine before the seasons change.

LOVE2YOU is constructed from many musical elements I tend to enjoy. The punchy production during the chorus is especially rousing, injecting blasts of electronic distortion that act as a compelling focal point. The rising energy of the pre-choruses also works well, setting up the hook with plenty of flair. I’m less enthused about the vocal melodies, which largely cede control to the exciting instrumental. The chorus feels like a missed opportunity, while the verses and bridge squander the momentum found elsewhere throughout the song. Fortunately, LOVE2YOU’s high points are exciting enough to anchor the track.

    • I would if there was a song that appealed to me enough to post. Hasn’t happened yet, though this is an old favorite:

(Sorry I didn’t see your tweet. This is back-to-school/work week for me so I have little energy/focus for anything else 😅)
