Fresh off their snoozy pre-release R.E.M, Kiss Of Life are back with the title track from their new album. Get Loud ratchets up the energy and throws back to mid-2000’s R&B/dance sounds. The song wouldn’t sound out of place on a girl group album from that era, and that’s a solid direction for this group to take.
April’s Midas Touch hinted at this 2000’s aesthetic, giving the girls an attitude-fueled banger to showcase their burgeoning dominance within the K-pop market. Get Loud isn’t quite as charming and feels more generic, but I’m happy to see Kiss Of Life continue down this route. The track’s rhythmic guitar and shuffling beat maintain a consistent energy that gives the group a solid backbone to work with. The opening verse lacks a distinct sense of melody but successfully winds around the groove. The production actually compliments hip-hop better, as evidenced by the brief (but memorable) second verse.
Get Loud misses an opportunity with its chorus. I feel like I’ve heard this melody (or variations of it) before, and once again the song seems to be supporting the instrumental rather than the other way around. Kiss Of Life wring what they can from the material, but there’s a sense of flatness to the topline that could do with revision. So many great ingredients are here. They just need a bit more time to cook.

I found the percussion (?) used throughout the song pretty addicting and cool, and the melodies are decent, not too strong, but not weak either.
8.25 (8, 9, 8, 8) for me.

I liked it, but it can definetly go bigger. The chorus is a bit underwhelming for me. Midas Touch is way more effective imo.

Especially for a song called “Get Loud”, one would expect it to be, yanno, louder.

good song, it does feel like its just missing a tiny thing to make it a great.
I thought about it recently and KOF are kinda the EXID of this generation to me, with their own sound of course.

I agree that chorus could be better , it gets the job done. The bridge is short but effective in rising the excitement
“lacks a distinct sense of melody”. I just have to say that I hate this phrasing
and the second verse is not memorable and is the worst part of the song

I feel like there’s been a trend lately with stronger production, but a lack of good melodies and performances to live up to the track. This is a perfectly fine song, I won ‘t put it on the playlist but I wouldn’t skip it if it came on either.

Yeah it’s not as good as Midas Touch, but still solid. I prefer at least one of the B-sides, however.

I really enjoyed this song, the smooth production and hip hop segments reminded me of Bad News (which is their least popular title track internationally but one of my favourite tracks of theirs). While it’s missing a grandiose vocal moment it’s overall a very pleasant track and gets better with each listen. Not their best release but a solid step to solidify their signature sound. It’s an 8.25 from me.

I feel like they rushed this comeback to capitalize on the success of Midas Touch and Sticky. The song is decent but it’s no stunner the way Midas Touch, Nobody Knows, and Shhh were. Sticky and Bad News had its own unique aspects too, while this one has a pretty good instrumental and idea going, but decent, not amazing execution. They pushed this comeback so they’d have more material for the tour but I really wish they took a step back to let the girls breathe (and rest!!) and really think about what kind of music they want to release. Instead of a comeback and tour, they could’ve prepared for big year-end stages…

This comeback has been in the works since before the release of Midas Touch (there are spoilers for it in the Midas Touch album). If anything, it’s Sticky that was rushed because it didn’t even get a physical release due to time constraints.

They’re attending AAA in December! They probably knew they wouldn’t get invited to as many shows as last year as they are no longer eligible for rookie awards and don’t perform well enough for any other nominations yet, and the GG competition this year has been fierce. There are still a lot more award shows in the new year to come IF they get invited

I really liked the song. It does miss a “woah” factor but it definitely is a good track and a good direction for the girls.

Quite bland.
Will not be surprised if this “underperforms” compared to their other bangers.
