Dreamcatcher (from Labyrinth – 2020)

Dreamcatcher opens with evocative tones, promising a textured instrumental that largely comes to pass. The production is the most immersive thing about this track, providing a sense of fullness with beds of synth and percussion that reminds me of 90’s r&b. I also love the subtle vocal touches during the chorus, responding to the main melody. Speaking of melody, that’s the only place I’d fault this track. It simply needs stronger hooks. Apart from that, the instrumental takes me back to a very nostalgic time.

  1. Oooh I don’t care for this one and honestly can’t remember the last time I listened to it all the way through. Boring verses, somehow grating chorus. One of their few misses, I think.
