Luv Star (from Snowflake – 2016)

For awhile, GFriend and Lovelyz’ sounds intersected. To me, Luv Star feels much more like a Lovelyz track, down to the shimmering synths and light vocal approach. This isn’t a bad thing at all, since GFriend are also masters of the sound. This has always been an album standout, sugary sweet but never cloying. I love the angular strings that close out each chorus and the melodies have a fairy-like bounce that unfold as if they’re floating through the air.

Grade: B+
