Please Save My Earth (from The Awakening – 2017)

Previous Thoughts: “The earnest hook is classic GFriend, but it feels more dreamlike here. There’s a lot going on in the track itself, but it’s so tightly packed that every element seems to bleed into one another to create a lush collage of sounds.” (full review)

Updated thoughts: I occasionally get the feeling I’m the only one who loves this song as much as I do, but that’s fine. The instrumental has such a warm lushness that echoes the best instincts of classic disco. Then, you’ve got that whopper of a chorus. It’s not so much the melody that does it for me. It’s all about how the production hugs the track, bolstering it from every angle. It’s sleek but powerful and weirdly affecting in its sheer sincerity.

  1. I love this song so much. Well, I pretty much love every song in this album but most buddy seems to dismiss this song for whatever reason.

  2. The church-bell-like piano is nice.

It’s also a song that seems to have been recorded several years before; their voices are all really young here. (Also the mixing is kind of off, which is weird for them)

I think the chorus would be better if the first word weren’t repeated so much– it comes out whiny.

The instrumental is very much like, Cardcaptor Sakura triumphing over evil, which I really appreciate.
