Song Review: The Wind – Hello Tomorrow

Like many boy groups of their stature, The Wind will be sending a member off to compete in the upcoming season two of Boys Planet. Thanatorn will be absent for promotions during this time and — if he makes the eventual group — for quite some time after. Before that, the group is celebrating their anniversary with special single Hello Tomorrow (안녕 내일). This annual release has become a tradition, following last year’s Sirius Part 2.

Though these tracks are fan songs by nature, I appreciate how both have been upbeat and in keeping with The Wind’s overall sound. Sirius Part 2, in particular, felt as if it could have been one of their title tracks. In comparison, Hello Tomorrow is more throwaway. Its breezy pop beat chugs along nicely but without real consequence as similarly lightweight melodies offer sweet sentiments over the top. When I think of The Wind at their best, I hear punchy — sometimes ornate — instrumentals and melodies packed with exciting peaks. Hello Tomorrow is subdued on each of these fronts, but I guess that shouldn’t be surprising given its purpose. Still, with the group’s immediate future in flux I’m eager to squeeze as much excellent music from them as possible before things change too much.

  1. Happy birthday Nick! I’m curious to know your thoughts on Baekhyun’s new song “Chocolate” that he just dropped today? 👀

Also, what are your thoughts on the highlight medley for his new album?

    • It’s difficult because I love Baekhyun and his voice but, apart from a few songs here and there, his solo music just isn’t for me. Chocolate is fine but I’ve heard so many stronger songs with a similar sound. The mini album sounds incredibly dull to me… but again, this style is just not my thing.
