2025 LEGENDARY SONGS Inauguration Ceremony

It’s that time of year again! Now that there’s been enough time for songs to settle, I’m ready for another Bias List Legendary Songs Inauguration Ceremony.

I inaugurated a ton of songs last year (maybe too many?), so this year’s ceremony is far smaller and only covers songs released in 2024. As usual, only material released since The Bias List‘s inception (Jan 1st, 2016) is eligible for this feature. Songs released earlier than that are periodically featured as special reviews.

As you know by now, I hardly ever award a 10-out-of-10 rating on release day because I believe songs need time to reach that lofty honor. Sometimes it takes months. Sometimes it takes years. Sometimes the ascent is rather quick (moving from a 9.25 to a 10, for example) and other times a song takes steady hold and gradually makes its way to the top. We’ve got a couple of those this year.

With that in mind, let’s celebrate these amazing songs and hope that more are soon on their way!

  1. Oh damn, so none of the songs pre-2024 are eligible for the 10 yet? That’s bad, but well, glad to see Impossible and hey! hey! get that sweet 10 :p

Anyways, my legendary songs from last year would be:
    1- hey! hey! (TWS)
    2- Cosmic (Red Velvet)
    3- Deep Wave (Ryugujo)

I’ll have to think for the pre-2024 songs but oh well :p

  2. YES YES YES. TWS finally have 10s in their discography?! (Countdown might reach there sooner or later, I hope.) New thumbnail change?? Impossible—receiving a 10/10!! (RIIZE was prolific last year.) Oh, and I also didn’t expect it to be that quick, though… Was it always the case? I remember seeing a comment a few days ago asking when you would write about this.

Anyways, thanks for including TWS and RIIZE. I discovered them through your blogs and I really appreciate you for it. Initially, I was not into RIIZE’s sound because it felt too funky, but I eventually adjusted to it. Now, I am not afraid to say that Hey! Hey! was my favourite song released in 2024 (it was so cheerful and uplifting, and it pushed me through tough exam periods). If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have found true meaning in songs.

Regarding Ryugujo, I included Oshibai in my playlist and it is oddly addictive, and now this is going to be the second Ryugujo song in my playlist.

    • the first time i heard this song was when it came into my smart shuffle and i was instantly hooked. it was a really vivid moment for me LOL (i was in a bus to my grandma’s house after school). i actually went straight to thebiaslist without hesitation just to see that it received a measly 9/10. now, im very glad that it achieved legendary status.

    • I like Impossible and I listened to it a lot when it came out, but it always comes across as a sterile take on house for me. Like, if they just had Big Freedia yell over the end of the song that would have taken it there for me.

  3. Gotta say, I’m surprised by Koegawari. I like the song, but to me it’s just that, good, not amazing. Might be because it’s a bit mid-tempo and I tend to prefer higher tempo songs (also, it feels kinda one note for me)? Hey! Hey! has grown on me a lot, surprisingly. I still have some problems adjusting to Plot Twist. I do think its verses can be quite underwhelming and predictable, and it’s mostly saved by the chorus and that standout outro.

    My personal choices are

    1. Impossible
    2. hey! hey!
    3. Deep Wave
    4. So let’s go see the stars (b-side)
    5. T.R.H.M (b-side)

    • I love so let’s go see the stars! Totally deserves a 10. Boynextdoor and TWS have me absolutely hooked on both the tts and b-sides of their discographies.

    • Spring day is a 10 for me too, I didn’t care for it initially but after some years I noticed it just stayed with me, it sort of revealed its value after a while. Just a sincere, earnest, emotional, iconic ballad. It has spent 8 consecutive years on Melon and it is for a reason. Although the soundcloud remix is by far the superior version.

  5. Hey!hey! made me stan personally. That live performance with the white costumes and Jihoon’s solo dance specifically, this guy is crazyyyy the performance was fire and the song is just so so good, there were girls crying in the audience and I honestly get it

  6. Hooray for Koegawari!

I remember liking Oh Mymy over Plot Twist back then but after watching the Boys II Planet stages I just felt very, very fond of Plot Twist. Also now that the new BigHit bg is debuting soon it’s made me reflect on how perfect of a debut song that was and just how good TWS’ discog has been so far.

  7. The Boyz VVV is one of the best songs of this generation. Synths, dance section that keeps the rhythm going, a bridge, to a final big chorus. That song has everything.

  8. It took SM nine years to release another house track as good as View and 4 Walls, so that upgrade to a “10” for Impossible is well deserved honestly! Now we wait for 2033 in anticipation of the next one…
