Song Review: tripleS msnz zenith – Q&A

In keeping with their enormous group configuration, tripleS have blitzed us with an equally enormous fleet of comebacks today. “msnz” is a “universe” within tripleS (their words, not mine) with four “dimensions,” each of which has released their own song and music video. I rarely have enough stamina to write about four tracks from even my most favorite artists, so I’ll be giving each song its own mini-review today.

Sub-unit zenith consists of members HaYeon, YuBin, JiWoo, SooMin, YeonJi, and JooBin and they’re releasing Q&A today. Of all the tracks, this one feels the most daring. Its instrumental is big and brash, utilizing bold electronic textures that could easily overpower the song itself. Indeed, the melodies don’t always match the strength of this instrumental, especially when they veer into an overly high pitch. However, the chorus has a nice off-kilter approach that reminds me of classic J-pop. More idiosyncratic vocals might have teased out Q&A‘s experimental nature, but overall this is an interesting direction tripleS should flesh out further in the future.

    • Okay so I wasn’t the only one who thought that looking at the teaser photos. Always thought something like this would have made for 4 EPs pr something but with pretty much most of these tracks, while they are slightly better than I expected, I would not make them the forefront of an album. I think this is more of an end of year present than a more serious effort like most of their gravity’s.

  1. Really feels like they’re starting to lose the plot a bit with TripleS.

At this point it feels like little more than glorified attempt at fleecing the incel whales that finance these groups…

There’s always been something exceptionally cynical about the TripleS business model but still…
