DAILY:DIRECTION debuted earlier this year with the oddly titled yet easily forgettable ROOMBADOOMBA. Their sound aligned neatly with current trends — a sort of laidback, vibes-heavy take on hip-hop. New single Down With It evolves this sonic landscape with a bit more pep in its step.
The production still feels overly loungey and aloof, but Down With It ties itself to a groove more suitable for the dance club. Synths percolate underfoot, giving the track a summery gloss that matches the group’s airy vocals. The verses are a treat, unfolding at a leisurely pace with a hint of melody I don’t necessarily connect to DAILY:DIRECTION’s core sound.
This melody isn’t as prominent during Down With It’s hook, which (you guessed it) is largely a spoken word repetition of “down with it, down with it, down with it.” It’s here that I begin to lose interest and the song must start winning me back. It’s too scattershot to do so with any real excitement, but there are highlights sprinkled throughout that keep Down With It from tipping into the gutter of anonymous 2026 boy group slop. The song will benefit from its strong summer vibes and likely play well over the long run. I just wish they could find a stronger centerpiece to lend Down With It the killing point it deserves.

Two ideas that run their expected course. The song already sounds like a remix of itself rather than the original release.

I adore this song, it reminds me of why I like k-pop in the first place. The vocals in the verses are amazing the group sounds so so so good. The melodies are great and the instrumental sounds has so many good details. All my fav k-pop groups like EXO or p1-harmony have excellent vocals and that’s what elevates even subpar songwriting.
The transition from the initial hook to the first verse is so good and the adlibs alongside the different synths, percussion, and that plucking guitar give it such a nice soundscape. In the second verse I can hear one member’s vocals layered in the sides of my ears but unlike other k-pop songs it’s faint and I appreciate that detail. Moreover, there’s this brief pause where the synths rev down and up again before the pre-chorus and it’s the coolest thing ever.
9/10 for me and not too far off from Shinee’s Atmos. I love everything that the song is and it represents. Idc that the hook is repetitive. To me this song is a cheesecake and that’s the crust. The crust is still sweet, but it doesn’t need the same flavour/texture to be satisfying.

The vocals during verse was quite good and I do not mind the repetitive hook as long as its entertaining. However, the second half of the song and the bridge made the song lost its energy and failed to keep my attention. Not much replay value for me
