One Pact have been swimming upstream since debut, fighting against an increasingly monolithic agency system that doesn’t afford many chances for acts from small-to-mid companies. Any residual Boys Planet buzz has long since faded and they’re left to fend for themselves. To their credit, they’re a largely self-produced group, making it easier to take matters into their own hands. This has resulted in a real mixed bag of music so far, with new single U So Hot slotting right into the middle of that spectrum.
More than anything, this track reminds me of the K-R&B that was popular in the mid-2010s. I hear a ton of Jay Park in this, from the head-nodding beat to the repetitive, melodic hook. The song offers a nice blend of rap and singing, presenting a little something for everyone. I could do without the incessant vocal effects, but that’s very on trend at the moment. Instead, I’ll focus on the groove, which keeps its charm stable and affable throughout. Fans oohing and ahhing over LNGSHOT’s debut this year should give U So Hot a listen. It’s very much within the same vein.

The auto tune is so unnecessary😭
It’s one of 2 songs (the other one being 8Turn’s comeback) I’ve added to the playlist in the past week and half. I’m not super crazy about either, but I can listen to them and who knows, they may grow on me. Both are probably 8s
PS: about Lngshot, did you know they have 4.5M followers on Spotify, and some songs have 90M, 60M, 30m streams😳. When and why and how did they become so big so fast? I don’t even have one of their songs on my playlist. Some of HYBE’s newer boy group like BND and TWS are below these numbers. Good for them, I guess, but it’s hard for me to understand…or did I miss something?

I assume it’s just because their music is really targeted toward streaming — much more so than those other other groups who operate in a more traditional idol role.

The combined vocal and instrumental effects make it sound bright and effervescent. It’s quite nice! 8

I can’t believe they autotuned Jay Chang but I think this is their best song since 100! It’s pleasant but I also forgot what it sounded like pretty quickly. They have fun performances so hopefully that will make it stick.
