Twice’s Hare Hare has been kicking around digital spaces for a few weeks, but I’ve held off writing about it in a J-pop round-up because I knew the music video was just around the corner. Today, we have the visuals to accompany this bouncy dance track.
Hare Hare is modern Twice, through and through. It offers little in the way of surprises, but that’s okay. There’s something to be said about a group who know what their fans want and deliver it with ease. The song’s hooks are bubbly and bright and bop along with little distraction. The chorus has a nice build, culminating in a rhythmic vocal riff that acts as Hare Hare‘s calling card.
As is often the case, the track’s verses are less memorable. I’m not a fan of the slowed-down pre-chorus (why do producers always insist on shifting gears here?), but when the energy kicks up the result is formidable. I’d happily take three whole minutes of the repeated “hare hare” earworm placed over an ever-accelerating club beat. Sometimes less is more, and Twice should always lean heavily into their most glistening hooks.

I agree with your review. This one doesn’t bring anything new to the diverse TWICE discography but it’s a great dance track and TWICE just delivers their modern sound so well. TWICE created their own sound for sure. They’re one of the most instantly recognizable groups out there. I’m loving the fact Jeongyeon has a lot of lines as she’s my favorite TWICE vocalist. What I love so much about TWICE is they work so hard yet you can always see and feel the soul and passion they put in everything they do because they love to make music for their fans.
I’m especially hooked on the ‘Lets’s go’ part, followed by that earwurm :p
As far as MV’s concerned it doesn’t get better than TWICE’s clips.

Twice is probably the most consistent kpop group I have ever seen. They always deliver what is expected. It’s honestly really impressive.

I’m confused if those are two pre-choruses or a pre-chorus and a chorus with a quieter instrumental LOL. nevertheless it’s still a fun track.
this new IVE b-side though? their winning streak will never end. https://youtu.be/AmmU6Ifj7-0

This song is soooo good. I love it so much. Its bright, fun, summery, and very Twicey. You’re not mistaking their sound for anyone else. Also they all look ridiculously beautiful in the video and its very fun.

Twice patented effervescent effective pop froth.
For once, I like the super-layered high melodyne harmonies in the chorus. It actually fits with the mood of the song.

Completely disagree with the slow down pre chorus. Easily my favorite portion of the song.

I really don’t like the titular hook and I think that makes my opinion of the entire song a lot less favorable. Even more so since I do agree on pretty much everything else minus the prechorus.
7.5 for me
