Song Review: Kiss Of Life – Kitty Cat (Julie solo)

JulieIt’s day three of Kiss Of Life’s pre-debut advent calendar of solo videos, and today we’re introduced to the group’s leader and rapper Julie. Kitty Cat offers a more hip-hop flavored taste of their sound while sitting comfortably alongside the past two tracks.

It’s becoming very clear that Kiss Of Life’s work will be well-produced. So far, all songs have featured distinct instrumentals with plenty of inventive touches to keep interest high. I really enjoy Kitty Cat‘s beat — especially when it begins to morph from verse two on. It’s driven by a percussive stomp and handclaps that feel very mid-00’s, but modern enough to sit aside the group’s peers. This isn’t a super complex track, but it lays its groundwork early and builds on that goodwill.

Julie seems like a charismatic rapper, though neither the verses not chorus of Kitty Cat immediately floored me. I have a feeling the song will improve with time, buoyed by its mix of subtlety and attitude. For now, it earns the same score as Belle’s track yesterday. The group is three for three so far!

  1. unrelated but i wanna see a producer spotlight for ricky hanley. he’s produced some great hits such as WARPS UP’s Rock Tonight, Mariya Nishiuchi’s Motion, Generations’ Hot Shot, and EXO’s Miracles In December

  2. I think I might check every single review you post from now on, even if I don’t comment.

I clicked on this review on impulse and oh man. This is great.

All three that have been released are great. I can’t wait until they are on streaming platforms.

Let’s hope the screaming isn’t in the official audio though 🙂
