For their latest comeback, DKB have utilized two of K-pop’s long-successful promotional tactics — releasing a repackage with double title tracks. Rather than write about both songs (All Yours isn’t very good, tbh), I’m going to focus on the one whose video appears to be edited with more care.
Furthering the nostalgia factor, DKB emerge wearing prince-like garb reminiscent of Boyfriend’s 2012 epic Janus. Told You (말했잖아) is nowhere near that classic in quality or impact, but I appreciate its desire to tackle a big, melodic chorus.
There’s a great song in here, but the composition is too tentative to fully land. The verses are well-performed and emotive, yet lack the distinct hooks and instrumental build to really pull me in. The chorus is more successful, underlined by footfalls of percussion that give it nice heft. The melody is simple but catchy. I’m not sure how it will age with time, but the song’s old-school appeal is pretty refreshing.

It’s alright. It sounds like every b-side mid-tempo “vocal showcase” ever.

I listened to All Yours before this one and was disappointed. Thank you for letting me know there’s 2 title tracks, I enjoyed this one more. All yours felt “cheap” and the video appeared low budget, despite both using the same sets and outfits.
I kind of wish thru would have done a more summery/bright/fun song since we’re still in August. They’re really good at pulling off bouncy and groovier concepts. Oh well, they still remain a group that I’m always rooting for.
