Oh, come on now! That song title is so cheesy it’s got me physically cringing. Yet, its earnestness is also disarming in a way, and this perfectly illustrates the duality of K-pop. BYOB is the first of two tracks from Billlie, the second of which will be released next month. It’s a breezy trifle of a pop song, wafting in on ethereal atmosphere.
This compliments Billlie’s status as one of K-pop’s quirkiest new-gen girl groups. The song feels like their take on the popular NewJeans/tripleS/etc sound, subdued and moody and paired with TikTok-ready choreography. Within this sub-genre of K-pop, BYOB finds a nice melodic hook that’s vibey but not boring. The hazy, nostalgic production compliments these melodies. It’s polished to a fine sheen, yet still feels a bit lo-fi.
At just two and a half minutes, BYOB doesn’t have space to build to anything more than a pleasant curiosity, but in this instance I think that’s fine. The song has a music box appeal — a little fragile and slight. Rather than a main course in Billlie’s discography, it feels like a discovery hidden just off the beaten path. I’m eager to hear if next month’s title track embraces a similar style or goes for something completely different.

The song is fine, but it doesn’t sound like Billlllie. Its very contemporary sotto voce New Jeans – 50/50 Cupid soft mid tempo. I usually expect something more outre from Billllie. The Billage of Perception, whatever that meant. “GingaMingaYo” had a point of view and its own distinct vibe.
Well, lets wait for the main release, hear and see what happens next.

Really love this song , the production on this song and the mv are fantastic easily one of my absolute favorite Billlie tracks , also the title is fine i don’t understand why it’s supposed to be cheesy ???
