Song Review: Han Seungwoo (Victon) – Blooming

Han Seung Woo - BloomingHan Seungwoo has been active as a soloist for years now, but I have a hard time recalling any of his music. He’s a polished performer with a great voice. He just needs songs that cater to those skills while leaving behind a hook or melody that resonates beyond the comeback’s short promotional period.

Unfortunately, Blooming is unlikely to be that song. It’s another pleasant mid-tempo with solid execution and an enjoyable vibe. I could see this sneaking onto a summer playlist between bigger hits, but it’s unlikely to draw attention on its own. And just as the song unveils some nice vocal layering during its finale, Blooming ends without delivering the cathartic wallop it seems to be teasing.

  1. I was thinking “Ha Sung Woo? I love Ha Sung Wooo woo wait, Han Seung Woo, different person.”

Its just interesting how so many lead vocals anchors their group songs, such as Victon’s Unpredictable, where Han with an N Seung with an eu Woo owns the chorus. Or the half dozen other Victon songs I have on rotation, where he anchors those as well. Then when they become soloists, nearly all go for something like this which sounds like every other male soloist. Very plain white bread which looks and smells right, but is just kind of bland and squishy.

  2. This waas dissapointing, bland, and just kind of boring. Seungwoo has been one of my favorite kpop performers for years but his solo music (minus Sacrifice) just isn”‘t doing it for me. He was amazing in Victon and killed it on Produce/x1.

I.wish he would lean more into a r&b sound or even something kind of funky. Since Kai and Han Sungwoo are enlisted those two music arenas are wide open.

  3. i wish ppl would stop calling these kind of enjoyable, pleasant songs “boring”, it kills your joy for music to read such superficial remarks, not appreciating emotions, atmosphere, vocal tone. Hooks arent everything in music. It doesnt hurt for artists, esp more popular ones, to release these kind of relaxing, enjoyable songs where they can just show their love for singing and their emotions and sensibility.
