K-Pop A-Z Review: GFriend – Click

Click (from LOL – 2016)

Early in their career, GFriend’s music could occasionally get a bit cutesy. Click’s exuberant cheerleader chants won’t be for everyone, and it doesn’t help that the song opens with them. However, the rest of the track offers the kind of stomping instrumental and sharp melodies that characterized their strongest work. And really, those chants are kept to a minimum as the song goes on, replaced by hearty vocal turns and a swinging chorus that’s bound to get you smiling. It’s good fun.

  1. I actually love this one a lot. If I’m already in a good mood in the car, it’s a lot of fun. Also, it’s fun to hear the early songs when Yerin got more lines, and this is one of the earlier songs where you hear SinB really get a significant presence in the chorus.

Something else I appreciate about this is that, despite the relatively uneven line distribution, you actually get to notice and appreciate each member’s part when it comes and their voices are actually distinctly theirs.

Also: Dang these first few albums they were wringing everything they could get out of Yuju’s voice. She did seriously heavy lifting on just about every song.
