Gone With The Wind (from LOL – 2016)

With a cinematic title like Gone With The Wind, you just know this is going to be good! Indeed, it’s one of my highlights from the LOL album. The song opens with a peppy energy but quickly deepens into something more robust and impressive. I love the tempo change in the chorus. It reminds me of something Sweetune would have written for Infinite’s Be Back album. It has a symphonic edge while still remaining firmly within the pop realm. Then, we get a crunchy electro breakdown that largely takes the place of a second verse. The structural choices are constantly fascinating and dramatic. However, the highlight may just be Wind‘s vocal-and-guitar bridge that leads into a knockout finale.

  1. Ohhhh this song is so gooood.

And the special dance move they do exactly once was super cool to see.

The best use of this song, however, was a mashup with CupcakKe that I found on twitter.
