Hear The Wind Sing (from The Awakening – 2017)

GFriend flirted with the tropical trend every once and awhile and Hear The Wind Sing definitely has hints of that sound in its percussion. However, its brilliance is adding strings to its house beat. This gives the otherwise hyper-polished production a rustic edge that brings tons of character to its texture. Add a series of sprightly pop hooks and you’ve got a real winner. It’s yet another example of how well GFriend were able to riff on their core sound, pushing just outside the lines enough to feel fresh with each reinvention.
