Life Is A Party (from Parallel/Rainbow – 2017)
Previous Thoughts: “Life Is A Party is a fluffy little throwback, driven by retro synths, bass guitar and a repeated drum loop. In some ways, it’s quite restrained, yet offers a take on the GFriend sound that still feels fresh.” (full review)
Updated thoughts: I love the 80’s feel of this. The synth textures and programmed drums are a match made in heaven and fit well with GFriend’s light vocals. The verses are quite laidback but the chorus surges with a power that anchors the track well. Yuju sounds especially assured on this one, adding a weight to the song that elevates it beyond a simple summer trifle. The second verse rap is also fun and a little silly. If I were to describe this in one word, it would be “refreshing.”

Nick, aren’t you going to write about DayChild‘s horrifying comeback? And what about Jeon Woong‘s (AB6IX) song – Pixel (I loved that song)?

Ooh, that Jeon Woong song is good. I may have to do a write-up later.
Too many songs to review lately, so some will fall by the wayside.

Oh my god, I just listened to DayChild… WHAT?!?!?! Proof that Youtube K-pop will literally praise anything. I wish I had ears that never heard those vocals.

I’m so endlessly charmed by this song. The contrast between Yuju absolutely roaring out her lines and Eunha’s much more delicate voice always gets me.
