Love Bug (from Time For The Moon Night – 2018)
We’ve entered the segment of this feature that will cover songs starting with the word “love.” There are five of them in GFriend’s discography (seven if you count “luv” and L.U.V” as variations on the word). Among them, the bright, bubbly Love Bug is a pleasant bop. It again hearkens back to the stabbing percussion of their debut era but gives it a retro sheen that works well. The verses have a dynamic energy and great rhythm, stealing the show from the so-so chorus. The pre-chorus is also nice, positioned over a bed of ascending backing vocals that give it plenty of flair. This is a solid, mid-tier b-side.

This was one of my favorite songs of theirs. It’s so fun.
This album marked a turning point in line distribution: Before this, Sowon and Umji were always paired together, trading lines. Beginning with this album, Sowon and Yerin were paired instead.
