Only 1 (from Time For Us – 2019)
Only 1 hesitates a bit at first but grows and grows as we reach the chorus. Then, verse two revs up again with the promise of another pop peak lurking just around the corner. I love the sweeping orchestral synths that lead into the hook, giving the track lift before the producers throw their full arsenal at the arrangement. On its own, the chorus melody might feel like a slight variation on existing GFriend songs, but the execution buoys it big time. Yuju’s power notes are irresistible and electric guitar gives the climax plenty of heft.

The little post-chorus (You-you-are-my-only-one) is pretty interesting.

This is one of my favorite b-sides. The guitar is doing a lot in the background, and the chorus feels like a full sentence (as opposed to the short, chirpy phrasing of some kpop songs nowadays).
