Say My Name (from Snowflake – 2016)
It’s not easy following Rough on any track list, but Say My Name is up to the task. It’s a great dance track, fueled by an unresolved electro riff that has the same chugging intensity as Stevie Nicks’ classic Edge Of Seventeen. This adds a palpable sense of tension to the verses, keeping momentum taut and exciting. The melodies almost play second fiddle to this production, but they’re quite nice on their own. I also like the catchy post-chorus, which punctuates important points of the song to provide a bit of resolution. This sense of catharsis also appears during the final thirty seconds when the group’s vocals become more impassioned.

The opening instrumental for this is basically Me Gustas Tu.
I like the guitars.

I feel obligated to post a comment on this one, because it’s one of my favorite GFriend b-sides. It’s amazing right from the start with a solid beat, the dramatic guitar and these percussion-like sounds in the background that I really like. The production is simply perfect, tickles my brain in just the right way. Pair that with GFriend’s power vocals (the drama!) and harmonies, and you get a 10/10 song, in my opinion. It’s definitely one of Iggy & Youngbae’s best work.
