Smile (from Fever Season – 2019)

This is one of those songs you put on during a summer road trip. It’s mildly diverting and stuffed with good vibes, but doesn’t steal attention away from driving. The chorus is a bit cutesy but the chunky synths help to offset the cringy “Smile! Smile!” exclamations. (Side note: I really dislike when songs tell me to smile.) There’s also some nice diversity in rhythmic structure, giving each segment time to shine. However, this type of song feels a bit below GFriend – especially at this stage of their career.
