Sweety (from Sunny Summer – 2018)
Whenever I see this title my mind immediately goes to the early-2000’s S#arp hit. That’s a song GFriend could absolutely devour, but this Sweety comes from the latter end of their career where they were trying to mature through various sounds. The off-kilter instrumental has some future bass influence before segueing into skittering percussion for the chorus. I’m really not a fan of this style of song because it’s never allowed to build momentum. Sweety is an interesting diversion for GFriend, but I’m glad they didn’t lean to hard into this sound. The ultra-chirpy vocals in the hook are also a little irritating.

I could totally get into a song like this, but the production and top line really don’t work together, especially during the chorus. The melody is catchy at moments but doesn’t flow well and there’s no build like you said. The production reminds me of Hyper potions, I used to study to music like this lol, could’ve been a winner but oh well
I know line distribution doesn’t come up after (if at all) on here but the way gfriend’s parts are arranged reminds me of how apink would distribute lines sometimes

Idk I like this one. I like Yerin’s voice a lot and she gets to shine here.
