For their first full-length Drip, BABYMONSTER have benefitted from an old-fashioned album campaign. These promotions include a pre-release, a title track and multiple follow-ups. We don’t see this approach very often in K-pop anymore, and the finale of this new music video promises even more to come. Today, we have the mid-tempo Really Like You, which offers a different taste of their sound.
I find this style of hip-hop much more palatable than the braggadocious energy that drove last year’s Clik Clak. It also feels more authentic to the girls. Really Like You doesn’t scream “single” to me. Its ambitions are relatively low and the overall sound is more middle-of-the-road than I would expect from a YG Entertainment rookie. However, the track does a great job balancing the skills of the members, shining spotlight on both rap and vocal. And though the melodies never crest in showstopping ways, the chorus has a nice earworm quality that should play well over time.
Similarly, Really Like You‘s retro hip-hop instrumental is modest but endearing. It’s not the kind of production that hits you over the head in any obvious way and this will likely be an asset in the long run. It’s nice to hear something simple, sweet and free from the sonic gimmicks and catchphrasey chanting that often mars title tracks. Instead, warm brass gives Really Like You a cozy vibe that’s nostalgic and refreshing.

They’ve already debuted so boycotting makes no sense and Babymonster is very talented so it makes sense why so many support them and on top of that they’re from YG and Blackpinks little sisters so obviously Blinks will support them regardless. You’re just wasting your breath especially because they’re considered Blackpinks predecessors so they will keep get bigger no matter how much we hate the exploitation of minors.

The reason people don’t like minors debuting is 1. For the Artists mental health and 2. Because there are cringy perverts out there that will fawn over them despite their age. They have already debuted and they are extremely talented. Kindly shut the fuck up, no one cried when Miley Cyrus was releasing music at 14…

no one said anything when miley first started because people back then, ESPECIALLY Miley’s young fans didn’t understand that it was wrong for minors to be in the industry. There is a reason why you don’t see many minors in the western industry today compared to the 2000s. They are too young to be in the industry regardless if they are talented, talent dosen’t go away with age, so there should be no problem in letting them debut when they are older. Your comment is also very hypocritical, because for the 3 reasons you mentioned, you know it wrong for minors to debut, but then you go down the classic minor idols defender route in the second half of your comment, ESPECIALLY TELLING ME TO SHUT THE FUCK UP. Defenders like you are what have ruined my enjoyment of this genre. The new jeans issue is also another reason why minors shouldn’t be debuting regardless of talent

It’s a bit one-note for me. I would’ve liked that the production and vocals were more intense towards the end. But the chorus is addictive right from the start, so I’ll probably come back to this pretty soon. Also, I loved the ‘REALLY REALLY’ reference at the very end.
