THIS WEEK IN K-POP: Ranking the New Releases from February 2 – 8

At the end of each month, I compile my top three K-pop title tracks and list a ton of honorable mentions. In 2025, I thought I’d try something new and add a weekly feature to supplement my monthly round-up. Each Sunday, I’ll offer a compendium of the week’s new releases featured on the blog. And even more than that, I’ll attempt to rank them from my least-to-most-liked. I invite you to share your own rankings as well. The comments section of these posts is also a great spot to discuss anything that has happened in K-pop during the week.

Make sure to click on the title of any release to read the full review and see its initial rating. Consider this your one stop Bias List shop each and every Sunday!

  2. It’s likely that I’ll only start commenting here on the weekly rankings, or maybe I won’t comment anymore due to particular problems.

    Notable B-sides: none

    11. BabyMonster – Billionaire

Lisa and BabyMonster have something in common now: they both have a performance video with bad songs singing about having money.

    10. Minnie – Cherry Sky

    Ugh… what a monotonous song.

    9. Madein – Saturn

Very meh… I hope your title track comes with something like rock or an EDM from Lovesick Girls, that’s what I feel seeing your concept photos.

    8. Ken (VIXX) – The Wind Blows

I don’t like ballads but Ken’s vocals here deserve a standing ovation.

    7. OnlyOneOf – Stay

A solid rock sound but it’s not something I associate with OnlyOneOf and it’s not the first time I’ve heard a song like that.

    6. Plave – Dash

For a virtual group, their vocals are just right here.

    5. Rescene – Glow Up

    Same case as Gimme Gimme.

    4. All(H)Ours – Gimme Gimme

Good production but bad lyrics and musical tropes.

    3. Ive – Attitude

It’s not a big deal but it’s still good.

    2. Lisa – Born Again (피처링. 도자캣과 레이)

First BLACKPINK solo song that I liked. It’s likely that I won’t include this song in some year-end ranking even though it’s very good, because there’s basically nothing K-pop about it and it’s an international collaboration.

    1. D82 – Vinasse

How can you not fall in love with country rock?

  3. Gimme Gimme and Dash are the only additions to my playlist.

I was waiting for the post to see if I missed any good releases. Lately, I’ve been trying to stay away from YT because NewJeans is everywhere and music is nowhere🫤.

As interesting as that case is, I’m here for the music and the past few weeks have been slow, imo.

  4. I’m still on the fence about whether it’s a great song – I do think the raw ingredients are there, I just wish the chorus, after the first time we hear it, was held back until the end of the song – a big chorus like that should have an equal big build up – and it should also have a big ending. But anyway, it’s still the only real highlight for me this week, so Lisa’s Born Again it is!:)

  5. Hey Nick, I heard the new ZB1 title track will be produced by Kenzie 👀. I loved Good So Bad, so I’m looking forward to see what she brings.

    • Pretty much, yeah. Not all will be strong enough to be considered “buried treasures,” but they’re songs that caught my ear for one reason or another.
