Try With Us concludes with two of its stronger tracks. Now Playing (심야 영화) has much in common with K-pop’s current sound: bouncy and upbeat but still a bit subdued. Its bubbly instrumental feels like summer and seems on the brink of exploding at any time. It never quite reaches this potential, but I love when the bright synth line takes over for the chorus. The textures here are interesting and vibe well with TWS’s soft vocal performance.
Though the energy may be a bit blunted throughout Now Playing, the actual song moves at a clip. From verse to chorus, the phrasing is rapid-fire. This gives the track a nice sense of momentum without any dull moments. However, Now Playing‘s most indelible moment feels as if it could have been a throwaway. I’m talking about the subtly addictive vocal flourish that kicks off each chorus. This “mm” sound has such a sassy delivery that stands out as a blast of character in an otherwise airtight arrangement.

I’m glad you enjoyed it! have you also listened to IVE’s new japanese single dare me? It doesn’t have a music video though, and I didn’t even know they were dropping music. How do you feel about it? in my opinion it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it’s a cute song.

It came on randomly on Spotify and I was shocked because I was like, “who is this Ive clone?!?!” …. and it was just Ive haha.

This one and Go Back are my favourites on the album, though I enjoy the whole thing! Also, Countdown has been growing on me as I expected, though I’ll see where it eventually lands on my ranking of TWS title tracks

I was listening to it again today now that the weather is finally sunny in my neck of the woods and I feel like that setting alone adds at least .25 to every song rating!
