Rather than contain my “Risers and Fallers” feature to a single post in June, I’m going to share a bite-sized version at the end of each month. This will let me account for more songs and make a nice lead-in to the monthly round-up post.
I anticipate most of these ratings adjustments will be negligible: a 0.5 shift here, a 0.25 shift there. But, it’s a fun way to keep track of how my feelings on songs have changed over time – as well as which tracks currently have momentum on my playlist.
And remember, just because a song is marked as a “faller” doesn’t mean I hate it! Falling from a “9” to an “8.75” is no shame. 9+ rated songs occupy a totally different playlist in my music library, so I’m pretty particular about what qualifies. It’s a high bar.
This month’s feature covers the period from April 22nd to May 19th.

Gnarly lmao 😭😭😭 I do have to admit it grew on me as well, the performances were great. I never really agreed with people trashing the lyrics because the bigger problem to me was the lack of singing.

It’s been such a slow, insignificant time period that I can’t even tell if a song rose or fell for me 😭 sigh, so ig I’ll just share my views on your risers/fallers in detail 🫠
Noooo, not the Rock Steady fall! It still is going strong as my fave April comeback 😞 but damn at that D.I.M.M fall, I have not seen a song fall to the sub-6s since Oh My God 😭 (deserved though for this song)
Though I didn’t expect to see Gnarly have its ratings reevaluated even if it’s still an F, since when it comes to below 5.75-rated songs rising, I wouldn’t expect you to tweak their ratings cause either way they would still remain an F so I assume it wouldn’t be too significant to reevaluate them unless they rose to 6+ 😭 and you also once mentioned that if a song is rated that low, you don’t consider checking them out again to see if your views on it changed over time so they are almost never considered for your risers and fallers (so yeah, didn’t expect poppop to rise either cause of it). But well, I’m not complaining, cause that damn song also managed to become this weird earworm for me even if it still stays in the high-4s as I initially rated it 😭

For the record, Gnarly is still a 1/10 for me. I never got the performances either. Girls (or boys for that matter) twerking and making weird hand gestures and faces is definitely not my thing…blagh.
For my RISERS:
TWS – Countdown
JIN – Don’t Say You Love Me
SEJUN – Summer…a little obsessed actually.

I wasn’t a big fan of Gnarly either but the YT algorithm kept feeding me dance covers of it, and I have to say people look like they’re having a lot of fun since it’s a relatively easy choreo and invites outrageous fur-trimmed outfits.

Good evening! Or morning, or night, wherever the writer is. Have you listened to X:IN’s Attention Seeker yet? I don’t think it’s worthy of a review, but their previous songs do have reviews.

honestly, i still don’t think gnarly is a good song, but it is an entertaining song and i can’t help but listen to that song and watch its performances.

Gnarly has joined my list of songs that I don’t like, but the group performs so well that they actually kind of sell it for me.

Gnarly, Touchdown (cant remember if that was in April or May) and Hands Up definitely grew on me 🎧🔥
