PREVIOUS RECAPS: Episode One // Episode Two // Episode Three // Episode Four // Episode Five // Episode Six // Episode Seven // Episode Eight // Episode Nine // Episode Ten // Episode Eleven // Episode Twelve
So… I’ve been thinking about what to include in this final “recap” since I basically abandoned this series a couple episodes ago. It may be a long time before I write about one of these survival series because I left Boys II Planet feeling absolutely nothing.
With that said, here are the members of debuting group ALPHA DRIVE ONE — a name that sounds like a system update meant to patch ZEROBASEONE out of existence.

Members
1. Lee Sangwon (=)
2. Zhou Anxin (=)
3. He Xinlong (↑ 3)
4. Kim Geon Woo (=)
5. Zhang Jia Hao (=)
6. Lee Leo (↓ 3)
7. Chung Sanghyeon (↑ 1)
8. Kim Junseo (↓ 1)
This is the exact same line-up as last week’s results, though positions have shuffled around a bit. Has this ever happened before in one of these series? I feel like there’s often a big upset in the final episode.
As for the group itself, I have literally no opinion about them. I just hope their music’s good, though it’ll probably end up being a mixed bag like every other act to come out of this franchise. Apparently, they have a five year contract, which puts them in a similar timeframe as most K-pop groups. If only ZEROBASEONE could have been afforded the same luxury!
New Songs
Oh! And they performed a couple new songs. To my ears, Never Been 2 Heaven is the only one worth mentioning.
I like Never Been 2 Heaven better as a song but Brat Attitude as a performance more…something about the Toy Story Woody outfits and frenetic choreo with the first didn’t feel right. I liked How to Fly a lot, someone said it sounded like old BTS and I can hear HYYH and So Far Away in it. The group name is truly horrible.
As for the lineup I actually like it better than ZB1 although I was much more invested in BP1 as a show. Happy to see three C trainees made it although apparently the rest of them are going to have the opportunity to be tortured again by Mnet in another survival show in December. Good luck to them.

I LOVE Never Been 2 Heaven. The vibe is very Cowboys The Musical.
So fun.

Alpha Base One… Jokes have been made about the name resembling a certain supermarket chain. I suppose it bears repeating that maybe the real winners are the ones that don’t have to be in the group.
I only watched the first episode and then I couldn’t deal with the 3 hour episodes that could have been 1 hour anymore, so thanks for the recaps, even if they were very sparing towards the end. The one contestant I liked didn’t make it in, but I hope this’ll give him some sort of career boost.

such a horrible, horrible season. the lineup is meh. the group name is truly diabolical.
my ideal final lineup would’ve included Donggyu, Woojin and Kaiwen.

what an awful tv product. Did mnet use this to take up a lot of time slots or something? It’s just so bloated and uneventful
I was also expecting an upset at the end, however other seasons had their riggory exposed so maybe this is reflective of how previous seasons should’ve looked
Of the winning participants I actually was happy to see a lot of them (he xin long, Leo, jiahao) and the others were ones I didn’t think much of but just kinda expected them to make it no matter what. It’s a bit unfortunate how well I predicted the trajectory of some of my faves, yeah I couldn’t be crushed when they lost… But there really was no pleasant surprises results wise for me this season
now I’m excited to see the rollout of releases that will stem from the program

5 years, good heavens.
I watches the Hola Solar the other day when it popped up, and also this one here just now. Those mics. All for show. I mean the guys dance well and mime well and wink at the camera at the right time, but live singing is nil pois. No peas. The song itself is fine.
I second the comment above that the real winners are those who didn’t make it in.

It’s always jarring because they sing live for the whole show, but then the final is always lip synced. It takes the air out of the final performances.

I also honestly wonder if the singers singing the song are not those boys at all. That that recorded version would have played no matter who won. Just saying.
