Song Review: Xdinary Heroes – Lost And Found

It’s funny to look back at old reviews of Xdinary Heroes’ work on this blog. I really hated some of their early material, but with time the group has developed stronger songs and found better ways to deploy their humor. Recent single ICU is probably my favorite track they’ve ever promoted, and the accompanying album is pretty strong as well.

Lost And Found opens the album and is now accompanied by its own music video. This is the sound of Xdinary Heroes doing their best DAY6 impression, which makes sense since both acts work under the same agency. It’s nice to hear the guys perform something this straightforward. It might be more generic than much of their material, but it’s a good opportunity to showcase their skill without letting catchy gimmicks do the talking.

This isn’t the kind of song I tend to rush toward, but each time it plays I find myself enjoying it. There’s a cinematic shimmer to Lost And Found‘s instrumental, tempering its anthemic sound with lighter touches. The guys’ vocals sound better than ever and I can see this bringing in new fans who weren’t entirely convinced by their music before.

  1. That is a really nice vocal. Both having an actual nice vocal melody, and a good singer who makes the most of it too.

It feels like the transition from debut era “what the agency wants us to do” to this era a couple years later where they seem to be given more free rein has been good for them.

Rating is about right. I might even give it 8.5.

  2. I started listening to Xdinary Heroes when their stronger albums were being released and it definitely surprised me to see all your low reviews on their earlier songs loll. All that’s to say, I’m satisfied with their sound now and they’ve really grown into their niche.

  3. Wow, this is really good actually! I checked out of this group after really disliking their early stuff, this is so different.
