Song Review: TWS x 24kGoldn – You Like It I Love It

While I wait impatiently for TWS to announce the details of their promised April comeback, we’ve got an unexpected treat to tide us over. Three of the group’s members (Dohoon, Jihoon & Kyungmin) have teamed up with American rapper 24kGoldn on a project single for Bugs‘ Essential; Studio. I’m not sure exactly what this is meant to promote, but I’ll happily accept any new TWS-adjacent material.

To be clear, this feels like a 24kGoldn track that just happens to feature TWS, as he very much takes the lead and co-wrote the track. Me being the TWS fan I am, my focus immediately went to the song’s second verse and bridge where the members take full spotlight. Unsurprisingly, I love the vocals here. These three have such specific tones and bring a ton of natural exuberance to the track.

As for You Like It I Love It itself, the song is fine. It’s catchy and simple and never quite frees itself from its pleasant mid-tempo bounce. I like the touches of guitar during the chorus, which add needed grit. This is clearly the kind of “duet” recorded on two opposite ends of the world, meaning there’s no real interplay between the artists. I’m not sure if you can call this a CF song, but within that narrow world You Like It I Love It does pretty much what I would expect.

  1. It needed TWS to give a different feeling to keep from feeling too same-sy, and they always sound so good. Prob brought it up a whole half point. In fact, without them my whole comment could have been replaced with a simple shrug.

  2. nick the way you write about songs is so clever im sure you’ve probably said this a million times but it definitely reads like you have background in production and stuff – very curious would love to know!!

  3. I think it is supposed to be a promotion for some recording/ music making app/device. I would take anything with TWS at this point though.

  4. I like it. Having TWS on the track makes it more enjoyable. The collab fits their sonic identity and the members chosen for this are good choices.
