TWS NO TRAGEDY: In-Depth Album Review – Why You So Bad?

WHY YOU SO BAD?

Why You So Bad is the third English-language track from TWS, following Unplugged Boy on their debut mini and the awesome anime theme N.O.S.A from last year. As usual, this results in some lyrics I find unintentionally funny. Hearing Shinyu proclaim “we got cuffed!” was not on my 2026 bingo card and it makes me chuckle every time I hear it.

Funny slang aside, this track seems to best crystallize the album’s star-crossed lovers theme. It’s a sweet, very poppy mid-tempo with some of the catchiest melodies throughout the entire project. It’s also the longest song on No Tragedy by quite some margin. Why can’t Pledis give this length to the group’s title tracks?

Placed alongside other tracks on the album, Why You So Bad feels a bit throwaway. That isn’t automatically a bad thing, especially since these kind of tracks tend to sneak up on me over time. As usual, the members’ natural character transforms what could be quite generic into a quirky little earworm. The production is mostly nondescript, though the warm synths and percolating groove add to the song’s amiable nature. This will never be my favorite TWS track, but it’s still very fun.

  1. Somehow I didn’t clock this song was fully in English until you mentioned it lol.

This is my favourite track off the album! I do get what you mean by it feeling a bit like pleasant, throwaway fluff. However, I also get a lot of Carly Rae Jepsen vibes from the songwriting and melodies, and I think she’s the best at making this type of song that worms its way into your heart after letting it play a few times – this song evokes a lot of that for me.

  2. I don’t think this is throwaway at all. It has a very coming of age school tybe vibe I really enjoyed. Ngl it took me a minute to realize they were singing in English but the lyrics are cute and conceptually consistent with the rest of the EP.

  3. I’d say it grew on me by the second day. I can’t get past the lyrics, it looks like it was initially written in Korean and ran through Google Translate into English and the delivery sounds clunky to me.
