TREASURE: A Career In Song Ratings

There are a number of acts who have debuted in the past few decades and have dozens of song ratings on this blog. I thought it would be fun to lay these ratings out in chronological order, line-graph style, and take a macro view of their careers so far. Then, similar to my “Underrated K-pop” features, I can average their ratings into one mega-score and place them in a pantheon alongside other acts.

As always, this feature has some rules of its own. I’m including any “Song Review” ratings as part of this graph, including Japanese releases and collaborations with one other artist. I’m not including Buried Treasures or solo/sub-unit releases. For the ratings themselves, I’m using the most current number on this blog, so if a song was part of a “Risers and Fallers” or “Legendary Songs Inauguration” post, that’s the rating you’ll see displayed here. That means there will still be a few ratings here and there I find slightly inaccurate, but it’ll mostly reflect my up-to-date feelings.

Finally, these scores are completely subjective. Feel free to agree, disagree and argue (that’s part of the fun!), but know that this chart reflects the opinion of only one person (me).

  1. At this point he’s doing anyone other than Twice. I don’t get why he hates them. It feels a bit misogynistic that he’s covering all these nugu boy groups that nobody cares about, but not doing Twice, Red Velvet, Mamamoo, T-ara, Apink, and other iconic girl groups.

    • What are you even talking about? Each day, I’ve posted both a male and female group. There are plenty of big groups from both genders I haven’t gotten to yet. I’m trying to offer a variety of acts in terms of popularity, sound and ranking.

This is the weirdest complaint, and throwing around words like “misogyny” where they don’t belong makes you look silly. Maybe instead of complaining you should be appreciative of the amount of work this takes (that I’m doing for free, btw). Patience is a virtue. Learn to exercise it.

    • I’m on Nick’s side on this one. Sorry to hurt your pride, but do you know how hard he has been working to keep this blog going? He has been doing this for free for over 10 years already. It’s not easy. I hope you can learn to be patient. Do you expect him to cover every group in existence of this universe in a single day?
      I’m sorry again.

    • i meannnn if you don’t consider blackpink, g-idle, and ive to be iconic then ig that’s your problem but last i checked they all definitely, fit the definition of ‘iconic girl group’, even if not all of them fit my personal tastes

im ngl i dont rly get the point of your post, if you’re so bothered that nick doesn’t rate them, why don’t you do it yourself? if you’re so bothered at the posts he makes and that he’s not catering to your needs specifically it does no good to complain on his site 😭 there are many others including me have enjoyed all the posts even if there’s a few groups in particular some are waiting on

  2. Not bad! And damn, an 8.5 for Boy, I know you said it grew on you, but I didn’t expect this high! It’s an 8 for me personally

With that being said, Jikjin’s an 8.25 for me, King Kong an 8.75 and Paradise is an 8.5. So my average is an 8.26

  3. Solid discography all around, I just wish YG would manage them better…Have any of the 8.5/8.75 songs risen beyond a 9? I’d assume so given their position on year end countdowns
