Song Review: ONEWE – Scenario

ONEWE are so prolific that, for me, their title tracks tend to blend into one another and can be difficult to write about in any meaningful way. But listening to the highlight medley for their new, mammoth 17-track album, it seems like they’re pushing into a more uptempo, rocking sound. This is what I’ve often hoped for from their music, making Scenario a welcome first step.

You wouldn’t know Scenario‘s true intentions from its first few moments. The song opens nearly a cappella with little more than a few strings offering support. From here, Scenario slowly blossoms into a more boisterous sound. It still doesn’t open up as much as I’d like (we need big guitar riffs, guys!), but you can hear the ambition grow along with the song. This climaxes in an electric guitar solo that sends us into Scenario‘s finale. They’re definitely on the right track here, but could do with stronger melodies to match the bombast of the instrumental.

  1. Hmm it’s not as captivating as the songs on the Compass mini or even Neverland. Hard to give more than 7.25. There are some good songs on the album though with much more personality.

  2. Its the usual fanfare of pop rock music. Not anything extraordinary, but still a solid track. This is my first time listening to them so I am pleasantly surprised that the album is quite high quality with almost no filler songs. Aside from good pre-release songs from previous single (Icarus, Compass, Neverland), my other favourites are Stand Up and Beautiful Runaway. Imma gonna check their previous album as well.

  3. i whish pinocchio was a title track, as originally planned, but i can understand why they’ve chosen scenario – it’s the safest option, perfect for korean market. scenario is still a great song, but i personally prefer the things they did with lilliput, laputa or pinocchio
